Pfefferkorn, E. R. (Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass.), Boyce W. Burge, and Helen M. Coady. Characteristics of the photoreactivation of pseudorabies virus. J. Bacteriol. 92:856-861. 1966.-Pseudorabies virus, killed with ultraviolet light and then allowed to adsorb to chick embryo tissue culture cells, can be photoreactivated by light of longer wavelengths. The photoreactivable sector is approximately 0.5. Herpes simplex virus is equally photoreactivable. Photoreactivability is negligible during the first 20 min after adsorption and then rises to a maximum by 100 min. After this maximum is reached, photoreactivability decreases with increasing rate as the temperature of incubation is raised. Inhibition of protein synthesis immediately after absorption prevents the establishment of the photoreactivable state.

Identification of Synonymous Codon Usage Bias in the Pseudorabies Virus UL31 Gene
Background: Little knowledge of synonymous codon usage pattern of pseudorabies virus (PRV) genome, especially the UL31 gene in the process for its evolution is available. Objectives: In the present study, the codon usage bias between PRV UL31 sequence and the UL31-like sequences was identified. Materials and Methods: We used a comprehensive analysi...
متن کاملCell biological and molecular characteristics of pseudorabies virus infections in cell cultures and in pigs with emphasis on the respiratory tract.
In the present review, several cell biological and molecular aspects of virus-cell and virus-host (pig) interactions are reviewed for pseudorabies (Aujeszky's disease) virus. Concerning the virus-cell interactions, the complex cascade of events in the virus replication cycle is given together with the different mechanisms of cell-to-cell spread. The pathogenesis of pseudorabies virus infections...
متن کاملOptimization of UV irradiation for production of gynogenetic rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss: emphasising Hertwig effect and photoreactivation
Abstract: The optimum dose of UV irradiation to produce gynogenesis rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss with emphasis of Hertwing effect and photoreactivation (PR) was investigated. For this purpose, the sperm of rainbow trout were inadiated with UV at 2010±200 µw.cm-2 intensity in different alternatives of 0, 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 15, 20, 25, 35 and 45 minutes and allowed to fertilize normal ova; th...
متن کاملCultivation of Pseudorabies Virus
Pseudorabies virus has been cultivated in series in rabbit testicle, guinea pig testicle, and chick embryo media, and its growth requirements have been studied. Intranuclear inclusions, similar to those produced by pseudorabies virus in vivo, have been found in rabbit testicle cultures. The virus has not changed its pathogenic properties for rabbits, guinea pigs, or mice during the course of cu...
متن کاملPathogenicity and Whole Genome Sequence Analysis of a Pseudorabies Virus Strain FJ-2012 Isolated from Fujian, Southern China
The outbreaks of pseudorabies have been frequently reported in Bartha-K61-vaccinated farms in China since 2011. To study the pathogenicity and evolution of the circulating pseudorabies viruses in Fujian Province, mainland China, we isolated and sequenced the whole genome of a wild-type pseudorabies virus strain named "FJ-2012." We then conducted a few downstream bioinformatics analyses includin...
